Simple Steps for “Sign-up” Success
Unfortunately, it has been proven unrealistic to simply announce the idea of class trip to your students and expect to get the participation that you need for your trip to be successful; it rarely works out this way. The following are steps that we strongly suggest that you follow to build interest and get students signed up for your trip. This process includes strategies that have proven to be successful based on nearly 1000 groups over the course of our 15+ years of experience. Below is a brief snapshot of how we will help to ensure that you get the participation you need for your trip to be successful. We will be there to help you, step by step, along the way.
Step 1- Inform the students about trip
Step 2- Invite Parents to your meeting
Step 3- Host your meeting
Inform Students About the Trip
Announce the trip to your students and ask your colleagues to help get the word out. You can do this immediately, as details are being finalized, to prepare them early. We will provide you with flyers for the trip that you can distribute to the students and post throughout the school. Also, you will want to get the info about your trip in the morning announcements and school newsletter; whatever you can do to spread the word.
Invite Parents to Your 30 Minute Meeting
As soon as you announce the trip to your students, send home a letter to the parents inviting them to your meeting about the trip and ask them to RSVP by emailing you… Be certain to let them know that the meeting will only be 30 minutes! You’ll also want to get the information about your meeting included in any school announcement that you can. Finally, days before the scheduled date of the meeting, send a second letter home with the students, reminding parents about the meeting; reinforce this reminder with a quick email.
Host Your 30 Minute Meeting
Welcome your parents to them meeting and tell them about why this trip is a significant part of their child’s educational development. Next, you’ll briefly go through the powerpoint presentation (which we will develop an send to you) that will provide them with information about CE, as well as details specific to your trip including registration details, pricing options, payment dates, and fundraising ideas. When possible , a CE rep will be in attendance (virtually or in person) for your meeting to assist with questions and/or concerns.
